Living room decorating

When we bought our first house last year we were so excited that we could finally live in a place that was not the typical rent colour magnolia! Though as you can see we were overwhelmed by the chose of shades of blue...

Here is a small sample of test pots we have acquired during our time on Howard Road:

This is the shade of blue grey we finally settled on, I absolutely love it. I can't wait to share the pictures of the finished room.

Mollie Makes Home feature: Snowy peak mountain coaster tutorial

I am very excited to let you all know that a couple of months ago I was asked to write a crafty tutorial for the new Mollie Makes Home bookazine. Caroline Rowland from 91 magazine was the guest editor and did an amazing job of rounding up some amazing designer makers to show us their beautiful homes and inspirational tutorials. Here is a sneak peek of the tutorial I wrote for the bookazine:

It was a fun project to work on and I am happy to have been featured in one of my favourite magazines.  This is one of the first tutorials I have written and am inspired to write some more, so stay tuned! If you happen to make these mountain coasters I would love to see them so please post links in the comments to your handy work :)

You can view a sampler here: Mollie Makes Home 2 and is available to buy 19th September 2013.

Hooray!

At the moment we are in the process of stripping our front door to give it a shiny new lease of life by painting it a lovely new colour. Though what colour we have yet to decide! Here is Geoff with his handy hot air heat gun and our door looking a tad rustic

I have been scouring my favourite blogs for inspiration and here is what I have found so far...

Etsy Wedding Event, May 2013

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Etsy Wedding event in London Soho. It was an amazing round up of products from some very talented independent designers & makers. I met some very lovely people including the gals from Parapluie Events and Emily from The Wedding Hair Company. Thanks to Camille I am hooked on St Germain ! If you haven't tried it, it is gorgeous Elderflower Liqueur. It is light and refreshing - the perfect summer drink. Here are a few pics from the day:

Before & after

Before & after by Pygmy Cloud
Before & after, a photo by Pygmy Cloud on Flickr.

I got this little cabinet from a second hand shop in Crouch End, north London, called Junk and Disorderly - so many little gems in that place! After a lick of paint and a bundle of ornaments, it makes a nice addition to all my mismatched shabby chic furniture.

First, I sanded down the cabinet by hand and then I applied a one coat white paint. As the wood was so dark to begin with, I had to apply two coats. It still looks a little rough, but at least I can file this under the shabby chic category :)

There are a couple of items featured that are available in my shop too - the picture in the frame (Yay! It's spring) and the Raincloud droplets :
